Apparently, there's
controversy in Seattle right now because of two lesbians at a Mariners game recently who were asked by ushers to stop kissing.
Now, if they were the sort of everyday quick kisses (as the two claim they were) that wouldn't be untoward to see heterosexuals doing, there really shouldn't be any problem. Obviously, if they were getting sloppy about it and groping and so forth, it wouldn't be appropriate in public no matter the genders of the people involved.
But what struck me about that article is something that I've been noticing for years (very prominently during the Clinton impeachment) - look at what some of the people interviewed say: "I don't want to have to explain that to my kids." Or similar words.
Guess what, assholes: that's your job. You are parents. Kids very openly ask questions when they don't know things. When a kid sees something and you're too uncomfortable to explain it to them - that's YOUR problem. Make something up if you have to, but if you are too afraid of the world to explain it to your kids, be prepared for them to grow up into people who are too afraid of the world to explain it to their kids. And so on.
And needless to say, people like that are being left farther and farther behind with each generation.
