enotsola: Gov Perry is calling a special session to actually vote on the bill
silveth: oh what the actual fuck
enotsola: ahhh... so,the special session was made basically for the repubs of texas to push things through.. they made it so that instead of 2/3 vote on half this stuff, all they needed was a majority
silveth: what a bunch of assholes
enotsola: so magically things they couldn't push through beforehand would be successful.
silveth: i wonder if you can recall a governor in texas, because that is a low trick there
enotsola:
http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-250_162-57591221/texas-gov-rick-perry-calls-2nd-special-session-to-pass-abortion-bill/ - bloody hell.. at least news is covering it now though
enotsola: Eventually, he returned to the then-empty Senate chamber and declared that while the bill had passed, he didn't have time to sign it, so it wasn't approved. In return for declaring the measure dead, Democrats promised not to question the date of the vote any further.
enotsola: And ya, apparently Perry is just going to call special sessions until he wins.
(Unfortunately, I feel like there's a good chance his is the majority view in Texas and that that majority would approve of what he is doing.)
