So it's been an odd week. Christmas always comes and goes with just a flicker. We got drunk, as a family, on Christmas eve. My step sister broke 2 wine glasses and my step brother vomited after he drank 6 Zimas. It was a good night.
Last Friday I met a woman at the local QT who made me cry and hug her. It was honestly one of the most surreal experiences of my young life. She saw me buy a carton of cigarretts and came to talk to me about it, as I was pumping gas. (Sometimes I wish I could tell stories as well as Scott) Her father had died when she was young, after smoking cigarettes. I just started crying. Like one minute I'm pumping gas, the next I am crying and hugging this 60+ woman who rides a Harley Davidson and lives in Holly Springs. I'm pretty sure this was sign #1 of an impending breakdown of some sort.
Additionally, I attended Lisa's family Christmas Eve celebration. It was in her parent's home, which is packed full of nick nacks, dolls and dead dear. As this day was a special day, small children and babies were also crawling out of nooks and crannies. They are an especially fertile group. Lisa had to go over the day before to ensure there was an open path between the rooms. I also got to hand out presents, which allowed me to learn everyone's name. They don't even understand how they are related anymore.
My brother's back at home. We are sharing a room again. It's kind of hard to adapt. Lisa spent a night at a friends because he's here. Dad's pretty upset, but I'm pretty sure she'll be home soon. There's only so much time my dad can a) be alone and b) stand up for us kids.
Yeah for three day work weeks though.
