Clearly, you could have no other motive than to usurp the power and privileges of the O.T.O. Areopagus. Shame on you.

if this community were private to the members, i think you might get more activity. "openness and honesty" doesn't mean speaking in a public square. nor, for that matter, does it necessarily mean speaking in the presence of uninvolved witnesses. i handle my disputes privately, myself.

also, i hope no-one's claiming to be a member of an evolved, enlightened community, because i don't know any communities like that. i know of some that aspire to be, and work on it, and i think that's enough.

i am so glad to 'hear' from you!
i have been wanting your input so much. i should have just emailed you by now. thank you for posting. this community is certainly still in the experimental stages -- and the issue of privacy has been somewhat of a catch-22...
some people have told me that they do not want to get livejournal accounts because they are angry with how it has stolen so much traffic from other electronic forums.
but, as they have not yet posted anonymously, anyway...
i'll make this community private, and they can email me, if they want to join.

Really, private to the community isn't going to sufficient for some of your members. What really needs to be able to happen is a posting to this community limited to a custom friend group. I'll have to check if that's possible. Of course, one could just post to one's own journal limited to one's friend group.

Sometime later this week I'll post some more problems I think exist with this concept. Maybe you'll shut up and listen to me if I post in a forum where you can't shout over me.

What is insufficient about being private to the community? I don't understand what the problem would be there. Enlighten me, please.

You must be referring to other disputes on Synapthein, I assume.
