I know it might not mean a lot to some, but
Alex died at approximately 7:20 pm. We placed her in a box, wrote a few words on the inside and cushioned her with some tissue. Audrey dug a small hole for her directly underneath one of our stone steps in the back patio and we buried her while U2's "The Sweetest Thing" was playing on the background. (Sorry, I couldn't spend all day looking for a song while she's waiting in her makeshift coffin. It was a good song for the moment nonetheless.)
We are so incredibly sad right now. It was a blessing in disguise that we were slacking off in bed until 5pm -- we were originally planning on doing groceries and a little bit of shopping. Alex was the nicest, sweetest hamster ever -- she has never attacked anyone, even if you were a stranger. She never gets tired of moving around and always wakes us up at night whenever she's running on her wheel. I only have a few pictures of her because it's hard to get a decent shot, plus she's so tiny, being a dwarf hamster.
She will always be remembered..
Alex.
(December 2005 - July 2007)
Ten minutes after we buried her, we discovered fire trucks and ambulances on the street at the back of our apartment. A motorcycle lay on the road -- I truly hope no one got seriously injured. People were walking towards the scene, but Audrey and I just decided not to watch. We have enough to deal with already.
I guess there really is something wrong with Friday the 13th.
