Audrey surprised me with a dwarf hamster!
We named him/her Alex based on Alex Chilton. *giggles* Actually it's more of The Replacements' "ode" to the guy, aptly titled Alex Chilton which I've been listening to for days. We think it will be fine since we aren't really sure if Alex (the hamster) is a male or a female anyway.
I had a minor brilliant idea when I thought of naming him Tommy (Bob and Tommy Stinson, haha) but judging from the look on Audrey's face, she was unsure whether or not the name "Tommy" is cute.
He/she (what do you think folks, which gender is Alex?) is so chubby and tiny! His (let's use a male pronoun for now) entire body is probably less than 2 inches wide and about 3 inches long. I'm scared to hold him. However, as you may have noticed by now...he looks like Bob!
Speaking of Bob, she isn't interested at all. She looks at Alex sometimes but she isn't exactly squee-happy about him. It's still funny looking at both of them from a certain perspective -- Bob has a Mini Me now. :P
According to the guy from PetSmart, this is as big as he gets.
His placement is only temporary, someday we'll bring him downstairs.
Maybe I could find one of those Chinese cabinets...
Don't worry about Bob by the way, she's not the type to mess with other animals. Actually, she's not the type of cat who does anything at all. Sometimes I have this gut feeling that it's just a grand scheme to thwart us.
Audrey calls him Hamtaro, though.
