“Throw away thy wrath”: Discipline and Lyric Response to the Panoptic God

Jun 10, 2008 23:53

I have a thesis!

Thank you, five hours of studying. A thesis is what I wanted most of all.

"In George Herbert's The Temple, internal submission operates not only as a means of rejecting Catholic bio-power - successfully re-claiming the human body on the battlefield of bio-politics - but also as a means of securing grace for the speaker and satisfying the ever-present gaze of the panoptic God by perpetuating ‘good discipline’  (or, the discipline of love) within the panopticon."

No one copy me.
