What movie quotes do you routinely use in everyday life, and when/where?
- "Lock the doors." "And hope they don't have blasters." Luke and Han's helpful advice to Threepio in Star Wars. Useful when: locking doors.
- "Ignore the bird. Follow the river." The High Aldwin's advice after the bird goes in the wrong direction in Willow. Useful when: moving in the direction of a river. Comes in handy much more frequently now that I'm in Iowa.
- "Have a popover, froggy." Aunt Taminella stuffing Robin's face full in The Frog Prince. Useful when: eating or serving popovers.
- "Polite chuckles." / "Thunderous applause!" / "Loud cheers!" Featherstone's instructions to the crowd in The Frog Prince (a very quotable movie, obviously). Useful when: ordered or expected to do anything audience-like.
- "Only fools are positive." "Are you sure?" "I'm positive." Batty and Zack in FernGully. Useful when: someone says "I'm positive." Unfortunately, very few people seem to know the whole routine, though my sister used to catch on quick.
- "Someone oughta open up a window." "No, no, no! Too many flies!" John Adams and Congress in 1776. Useful when: opening or complaining about someone opening a window.
- "69, dudes!" Bill and Ted's favorite number. Useful when: encountering the number 69.
- "I must think. Think, think, think." The dog attempts to think in Tale of the Bunny Picnic. Useful when: attempting to think.
- "Let's get down to business to defeat the Huns!" Shang singing in Mulan. Useful when: getting down to business. Must be said with exactly the right inflections and the Huns part can trail off, ie LET'S get DOWN to BUSIness to deFEAT the Huns.
- "Right, frog." Fozzie in response to Kermit in The Muppet Movie. Useful when: anyone has just told you to "bear left."
