So, Moyashimon has me back in the spirit of trying new things, I guess, because today I watched the first episodes for Gundam 00 and Shion no Oh. Conclusions: Gundam 00 is just like Gundam Wing but different, and I may or may not finish it. I was doing fine until I got to the part about stopping war with war, which I think sounds stupid. I'm hoping that whatever character who shares my views they have (and there has to be one somewhere) is not as fan reviled as Relena was. I was also hoping that one of the Gundam pilots would be a girl this time, but it looks like that's a loss. (I think, anyway; some of the designs are difficult even for me, with years of experience, to tell.)
As for Shion, I was expecting Hikaru no Go but with Shogi and girls. Reality: not nearly so much. For one thing, Shion no Oh doesn't seem to care if you learn about Shogi or not. Two, it's creepy. Murder, stalkers, old crazy guy... Who the heck is this aimed at? Also, I was wondering who in the world the love interest would be, as no good candidates were presenting themselves and I didn't think it was a yuri show, but the ending effectively cleared that up. Paku Romi, I'm sorry I didn't recognize you sooner! And your character really, really needs a haircut.
