I'm usually a big fan of the Des Moines Register (our local paper), but today there was this letter from the editor explaining that he'd decided this week's Doonesbury strips were too graphic to print in the family comics, and we would be having reruns instead.

Can you guess what topic is being addressed? That's right, it's women's health! Specifically, laws intended to shame women into not getting abortions. You can read the first strip here.

But on the bright side, some women legislators have been introducing new bills that I think we're long overdue for in this country.

For example: "Under Senate Bill 307, men taking [Viagra] would continue to be tested for heart problems, receive counseling about possible side effects and receive information about 'pursuing celibacy as a viable lifestyle choice.'"

It's just to make sure they're completely informed about their decision!
