WWAPW? (What Would A Pirate Wear?)
The hardest part about putting together this cosplay, such as it is, out of other cosplay, is that I have no idea what footwear to wear with it. Sandals? Tennis shoes? Strappy sandals? The shoes that go with this outfit (my yellow dress from Orphen) are white, semi-high-heeled sandals that buckle, but I'm not sure that they're very piratey. My regular sandals look good, but will be annoying to walk around in all day as they do not buckle. Tennis shoes look like tennis shoes, but then again, I suppose poor pirates might wear whatever shoes are handy, and Layton proved people don't always look at shoes... but then again, Layton had on pants, and my Orphen dress only goes just past my knees. Decisions, decisions... Too bad the ground's not anything I'd want to walk around barefoot on. That would look good, too.
On the bright side, my hair's going to look great. My mom got me this silk red scarf for my birthday a while back, and I was rather puzzled what to do with it. Well, it makes a great pirate bandana. Totally pretty. In fact, I'm wearing it right now, because what better way to inventory a makeshift costume than to try it on?
Oh, and I guess I've decided I'm going to Pirate Week at the RenFaire this weekend.
