Thanksgiving has come and gone, and you know what that means!
Shopping on Black Friday at the mall. Hmm, did I miss anything?
(They randomly had some stuffed reindeer people hanging around the middle court area. No, I don't know why either.)
Shopping done, Saturday it was time to assemble the tree. First, spreading out all the branches. Then, all that stuff I documented last year and don't feel like re-posting.
All done!
Laying out the Christmas decorations on the hearth.
Stringing up the lights. Notice the understated, classy One Piece display on the mantle.
The new keychains for the year. Some of these were actually supposed to be on the tree last year (One Piece, tako!Lucas) but didn't ship in time. The rest...
Yeah. (16 photos down.)
Let's see, going approximately left to right and up to down: two of my tako!Lucas (the other's at work), One Piece Strong World, Durarara from Artist's Alley, Naruto, more Naruto, Organization XIII Roxas, Meiling, Hetalia, Reborn, Pokemon, and Tegami Bachi. Whew.
Here's the whole spread of all my keychain ornaments if you wanted to stare at a bigger version of yesterday's picture.
After a long afternoon (and a couple breaks, one to watch Bear in the Big Blue House: A Berry Bear Christmas courtesy of the library's VHS collection and eat Thanksgiving leftovers - mmmm - and one to call my sister and gab about the holidays), the tree was finished!
The back view. I had to actually step outside onto my balcony for this one. Fun fact: it's cold this time of year.
Along with a million-billion keychains, this year I had a number of ornaments I stole retrieved from my parents' while I was visiting last year. They're ones I made or really liked when I was a kid, and usually borrowed for my tree in college but forgot to steal get when I moved.
Anyway, this here's a bear with a snow cone we've had ever since I can remember.
I don't know how many of you know, but Kohl's has been doing this thing for a while now where they sell Dr. Suess characters and books for $5 each for some charity or other. That's where my Lorax came from. Currently (I have no idea how long these things last) they have the Grinch and Max, and consequently I now have the Grinch and Max. Aren't they cute?
Zoro, looking a little washed out thanks to the flash. (Don't even get me started on Christmas-tree photography. For every picture you see in this entry, rest assured I took many, many more.) I've got the crew ringing the tree towards the top. You can also see Luffy to the left, and that orange blob on the right by Dewey is Nami's hair.
The angel choir, another set from my childhood. I have no idea when or where these came from either, but I always liked them a lot and loved to set them up together so they could jam. I don't know how much Germany and Izaya will appreciate it, but let's give them the benefit of doubt.
Pokemon corner. My brother made the Pikachu in a pokeball and Bulbasaur last year. It opens and closes and everything. He's getting talented. ^-^
I like Gokudera anyway, but kitty!Gokudera playing it cool amuses me no end. (The same is not true for Tsuna... Actually, Tsuna only gets to be on the tree because Gokudera would be sad if he weren't.)
Hibari is too cool to hang around the others, so he's chilling by Robin and my pocket dragon. (The yellow blob is Sanji.)
Oh, and speaking of Robyns...
Look! It's more time together than they've had in the last 450 chapters, even if they are from different sets. Just for you, Robyn. Just for you.
Sasuke! We meet again, but this time, I'll finally succeed in making you come back to Konoha. Behold! Dramatic Lighting Jutsu!
Dobe. The camera's just having troubles with the lighting again. Take this! Revenge Threat I Probably Won't Keep But The Fanboys Who Hate Me Will Take As Gospel Jutsu!
Impassioned Declaration of Friendship Jutsu!
Sort-Of Attack But Not Really Jutsu!
Defensive Feat That's Surprisingly Impressive Jutsu!
Further Revenge Threats Ju- Oh, sorry man. The plot says Madara has to show up and teleport me away before we actually hash things out. Same time next Christmas?
Yeah, sure. It'll be about that many chapters anyway. Say Happy Holidays to my zombie parents if you run into Kabuto, will you? Later.
Will do. Tell everyone in Konoha I plan to kill them later. See ya.
...Chi?
Meanwhile, kid!Naruto and kid!Sasuke have no idea what's going on.
This section of the tree turned into something of a kids' corner. Ed and Al are up top, then Gon and Killua, and kid!Naruto and kid!Sasuke at the bottom. (And America acting like a kid off to the side.)
It's a gaichu! Oh wait, no, that's just Russia hiding behind a branch. Hey Russia, have you seen Gauche? No? ::sigh::
Shhh! He's hiding.
Lag should've asked Apollo. Come to think of it, he's probably sympathetic when it comes to stories about mentors abandoning their careers and getting costume changes. I wonder if Gauche took up gambling?
Roxas is chilling with the Christmas duck I made last year. I generally don't really like these really stylized keychains, with the round heads and vacant expressions, but since Roxas' expression is supposed to be vacant (and because he's my favorite) I made an exception.
The pink thing is tako!Luca. I love tako!Luca far more than you'd think anyone would love an octopus-girl-head-thing, but the design is just so cute and fun.
Video, if you have no idea what I'm talking about.
Izaaaayaaaaaa!
The blue and green ornament is one I made when I was like, five or so. Not bad for a kid.
Celty stays above the fray while Kusukusu apparently thinks being on a Christmas tree is the best thing ever.
World War 2, if missing some Allies. It's sad, but I actually had to look up where to put Austria and settled on near the middle. War hasn't quite broken out yet, but Chopper better move it if he wants to escape unscathed.
That's it for the tree! But this year, I have one more Christmas display...
To be continued!
...But first, your latest update on my desk at work.
I took the little tree into work as usual this year and decorated it with stuff we had lying around. The "tree skirt" is actually a giant (like, XXXL) Vampire Knight shirt no one is willing to take home.
And since I was taking photos at the office anyway, here's my latest desk arrangement. It's a bit early for New Year's or whatever's getting celebrated here, but what they hey. Len's rocking the shamisen.
