Thank goodness I no longer have to make car payments (though I really should take it in for an oil change and a general check up... ::makes note::), because I have been buying far too many toys lately. Terribly cute toys, but utterly unnecessary nonetheless.
These are the One Piece Mild Portrait of Pirates figures. (Mild means they're the kids versions. More info on POPs available at
this entry in the One Piece Wiki.) I still need to get Luffy to round out the ones I'm planning to collect, but haven't found a good auction for him yet.
Strong World Luffy POP. (That mean he's part of the line they're doing for movie 10.) I've actually moved him down a shelf for now, and when I've got a couple more from this line to go with him I'm moving him again to the fireplace mantle, but I like this picture anyway because Zoro's head is angrily glaring at Luffy, and I think that's hilarious.
See? He's hanging out with Cardcaptor Sakura for now.
Though I didn't take a bunch of pictures of it, Luffy's pretty customizable. The hat, coat, and tie are all removable, and his arm can be swung around to hold either his gun or his hat (the extra hand is for hat holding). This picture really doesn't do him justice.
Once I get them all (potentially minus Franky and Brook - the completionist in me says to fill out the crew, but the girl in me says that Franky really ought to wear pants), I plan to line them up similar to the top row in
this photo from Wonderfest, the Japanese figure show that was this weekend and that I really need to stop looking at pictures from.
The other cool thing about Luffy? His hat totally fits my mild figures! So yes, I did in fact take pictures of every single one of them wearing The Hat. Because it's adorable.
Zoro looks like the bug catchers from Pokemon Red/Blue.
Nami is far too cute, even slightly out of focus.
Usopp is in tears. Manly, piratey tears, presumably.
Sanji is ready to go catch some crawdads in the crick and fry 'em up for dinner.
Even though she's smiling, this version of Robin always makes me want to give her a hug because of the backstory arc that accompanies it. She could have used Luffy and his hat back then, I think. (Vicki: for crying out loud, get caught up to at least this arc! If you read the manga it won't take more than a weekend or two.)
Meanwhile, over on the mantle Luffy and his crew will be later occupying, a rock concert is currently going on courtesy of my Vocaloid nendoroid petit set.
All of their skirts and heads and things are interchangeable. It's been tough to decide between messing with them all and leaving them recognizable, and for now recognizability is winning, but assuming they move to my desk this July (depends on what all I get at AX - yes I do plan out my displays this far in advance) I'll probably start fooling around with them then.
A close up on my favorites, the twins.
This was the secret figure in the set. While I have no interest in Miku as a character, this figure is fully posable and really well made. She's lurking behind the fiber optics thing since she couldn't get tickets to the concert, I imagine.
