Yoshiko keeps asking me lately if Tsubasa's ended yet, to which I keep replying "Of course not!" Well.
According to ANN: The combined 42nd/23rd issue of Kodansha's Weekly Shonen Magazine is announcing on Wednesday that CLAMP will end the Tsubasa, RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE manga in the next issue on September 30. The regular and deluxe editions for the 28th and final compiled Tsubasa book volume, as well as the second original art collection for the series, will ship simultaneously on November 17.
Aww, I'm going to miss my semi-regular updates of pretty WTF. That had better be an extra-long chapter. And I wonder what this means for xxxHolic? That is, will it also be ending in a chapter or two? (Please tell me we learn about that egg before then. Though I wouldn't put it past CLAMP to be like, "Enh, and then Doumeki handed it off to Watanuki to cook," except if they did that, I'm sure it would somehow turn out to be crucial 100 chapters later, but there won't be another 100 chapters, and really I just hope somebody hooks up after so many years of tension.)
On a related note, I finally got around to watching the xxxHolic and Tsubasa Shunmuki OVAs. Tsubasa Shunmuki played up the slash a bit (and how could it not, since it skipped straight to that scene?), but xxxHolic Shunmuki essentially decided to announce to all and sundry that yes, Doumeki and Watanuki are now officially going out in all but name. I was not displeased, but somewhat confused. Mostly this was due to the intermixing of scenes from the manga with ones that I'm pretty sure were made up wholesale - Doumeki studiously avoiding eye contact with Watanuki after the latter got his clothes soaked I'm reasonably certain I would have remembered.
Okay, this song is called Banana no Kuni no Kiiroi Sensou (which I believe means "Banana Country's Yellow War"), is from the xxxHolic Shunmuki FUNKAHOLiC CD, and you can see the lyrics here. Terribly curious to know what the hell this had to do with xxxHolic, I ran it through BabelFish. As you can see from the results below, I still have no idea what's being sung about, but have decided to conclude that Suga Shikao continues to be a strong supporter of DouWata (previously first noted after hearing the movie's end credits).
But seriously, banana polishing? That... That can't be anything but unsubtle innuendo, can it? Or does polishing have a completely mundane homonym in Japanese?
