Excursions in Japanese II

Jan 30, 2009 01:02

I finally had my first Japanese II class today!  Why didn't I have it on Tuesday?  Because of the ice in the last entry.  Then to top it al off, on Wednesday we had three inches of snow.  You people in countries that get lots of snow are laughing me.  "HA HA HA, YOU PATHETIC SOUTHERNER AND YOUR THREE INCHES OF SNOW.  WE GET FIVE FEET OF SNOW AND ( Read more... )

Where I live, people get excited if there is even the mention of a slight possibility of "snow", which means maybe two or three snowflakes will fall but won't even make it all the way to the ground, probably. And that hasn't even happened in years. If it ever actually snowed, I think all life in the Sacramento Valley would come to a standstill, because no one would know what to do ( ... )

Oh, and since apparently my comment wasn't already long enough. I forgot to flail about GReeeeN! I haven't even heard about that song. I'll have to go find it. Ahhh Setsuna is a good song~ I was just listening to GReeeeN today in my car and seriously, every time I listen to Kiseki it makes me want to cry. The lyrics are amazing, or at least as much of them as I can understand. ^_^'' Especially the very end. Michi and Ai no uta are my other favorite songs~ What are yours, out of curiousity?

Hmm, the songs I listen to most from GReeeeN are Ai Uta, Tabidachi, Kiseki, BE FREE, and Namidazora. Kiseki is such an amazing song. Whenever it would start playing on ROOKIES, I would either start crying or smile like an idiot. XD

People would probably freak out in Sacramento Valley. People freak out HERE. On Monday when there was just a threat of an ice storm, I went to the store to pick up milk, and everyone in the city of Bowling Green (where I live) had gone to the store. I saw people stocking up on water, milk, and bread. Like we'd all be cut off from civilization. I think if there was a threat of a major snow storm, there would be looting ( ... )

My Japanese class had about 40 students. There were so many of us that I just got bored with the class and by midterms, I was barely attending. The teacher is pure Japanese and can barely speak English, so when he explains, we all had to have our Japanese-English dictionaries ready ( ... )

I think smaller classes are better for learning foreign languages. We had 16-18 people in class last semester, and it felt like there weren't as many distractions. We could really work one-on-one, and we all got to know each other. I made new friends in that class that I don't think I would have made if the class had been bigger.

I'm sorry you didn't have a good experience with Japanese class. On the writing part, did you have to learn a lot of kanji? We learned about 20 characters, and I wish we'd learned more. We're supposed to learn between 50-100 characters this semester.

Oooh, KAT-TUN fans are scary. Jin's okay. He's a hard person to read, but he's okay. I don't understand his overall appeal, though.

Ayumi and Setsuna are two different songs. Setsuna is the VOICE end theme. I want a full version to come out so badly!

I have no life, either. I'm a bear in hibernation.

Making the story less angsty from here on out will be very hard. This will require a lot of thought.

I came from a Chinese school (halfie!) I can read and write kanji. (Brush and all that) The problem is understanding!

I can read katana and hiragana. But if you ask me to write a letter or paragraph...Sigh.

Setsuna I want so BAD.

I had a life yesterday. Today...is a different matter altogether.

Oh, i'll read any TomaPi. Angsty, cracky, porny, corny, whiny. As long as Toma and YamaPi are the main characters, i'm SOLD.

Ah, so you have more problems with writing words and such. It does get difficult because you have to know the words and the right particles and sometimes there's more than one particle together or one of the million verb endings that all mean "maybe."

Sadly, no Setsuna until March 11. They're going to make us suffer for it. Unless it somehow gets leaked to the internet...*prays*

Haha, awesome. Then I won't worry so much about it, even though Rei keeps insisting I make it less angsty.

Oh my gosh, I have an idea.

Pride and Prejudice trailer with Toma and Yarrachi. But who would play the rest of the characters? Lizzie and Jane and Lydia and Wickham?

Who would play Wickham, I wonder?

Jin. Jin would make an appropriate Wickham, wouldn't he? I didn't put much thought into it, and as I said I need to re-see the West version, but if he could pull it off it sure seems to me that it would suit.

Jin? Really? Er, I dunno. He's not all that charming, and Wickham needs to have charm. How about...Okay, let's see, if Toma were Darcy...hmm, dang it, Toma gets along with everyone...MatsuJun?

I absolutely want to see that Pride and Prejudice!
I'm (sadly) trying to elaborate on my fantasy life:
1. Friend gets adorable guitar-playing/singing voicemail from her hot new boyfriend, so to avoid getting inappropriately romantic thoughts about HIM, I try to imagine which of my favorite stars fits best into this fantasy? I decided Toma was awfully shy for that sort of thing and Mike He would be the most likely candidate.
2. Now I need to re-watch (because I'm too far behind on my reading list to re-read) Pride & Prejudice so I can build elaborate Toma as Darcy fantasies.
