I got bored, so I decided to make a mix for some of my friends in Japanese class. But, er, it kind of turned into my ULTIMATE J-POP AND J-ROCK MIX EXTRAVAGANZA. There's 80 songs on this list. So I'm going to post it here. Sorry, no downloads this time, but if you'd like one of the songs, leave me a comment and I'll upload it! XD FYI, these are in alphabetical order and not the order in which I like them best.
~Laurizzle's Ultimate J-Pop and J-Rock Mix~
1. Sakura Sake--arashi: This was the first J-Pop song I ever fell in love with. I saw the video and couldn't get the tune out of my head. The rest is history.
2. truth--arashi: It's Maou's theme song, what did you expect?
3. WISH--arashi: I admit it. Once I saw the first season of HYD a few times, the song grew on me. It's such a happy song, and the video is so cute with the puppets!
4. Kotoba Yori mo Taiestuna Mono--arashi: Theme to Stand Up! and awesome song to boot. I love the "Whoa-oh-oh-oh, whoa-oh-oh-oh" after the chorus.
5. Okaeri--ayaka: Such a nice song. Theme to Zettai Kareshi. I love ayaka's voice, too.
6. my name's WOMEN--Ayumi Hamasaki: Someone posted the subbed video of this, and it looked kind of intriguing. So I watched the live performance on YouTube and was like "Whoa, this is an awesome girl-power song." Ayu-chan PWNs in this song.
7. Monochrome--BENNIE K: Theme to Binbo Danshi. I could listen to this song on repeat forever. I always get a good feeling when I listen to it. It's especially good to listen to when I'm writing.
8. labo--flumpool: flumpool is my new love. "labo" is a nice up-tempo and kind garage-feeling song. I want to say ska, but it's not really ska. It's kind...beachy/garagy. Very indie. Kind of like Rooney in a way.
9. LOST--flumpool: More of that garage-y indie feel. Love the tune. It flows really well.
10. Mirai--flumpool: A beautiful rock ballad from flumpool. It gets kind of epic near the end. Seriously, I don't think flumpool has one bad song.
11. Hana ni Nare--flumpool: More proof of what I just said. Hana ni Nare totally, completely, absolutely ROCKS. The violins can get stuck in your head for days, but not in a bad way. This song gets kind of epic, too. I listen to it while walking to class, and I can't help but mouth the words. The song just gets into my soul.
12. Over the Rain~Hikari no Hashi--flumpool: Even though I've been watching the karaoke for this on Bloody Monday over and over, I somehow never get tired of this song. This is what I call an epic song. It's such a beautiful song with lots of rocking guitars and violins.
13. Love and Peace--4-Tops: My absolute FAVORITE 4-Tops song. Not just because Toma's the lead singer in this one, muahaha. No, it's such a cool song. It's got that old-school 70's-80's rock feeling to it. Plus, it's just fun. The kind of song you really want to scream along to in a concert.
14. Tokyo--Fukuyama Masaharu: Don't know about him being the hottest guy on the Oricon chart, but he does have some good songs. This is the theme to the drama Slow Dance, and this song really feels like a slow dance. It plays at a waltz.
15. Niji--Fukuyama Masaharu: Theme song to pretty much every Water Boys season except the movie. Have to say it fits best with the first season, though. Fun song, fun song.
16. ANSWER--GLAY: My absolute favorite GLAY song off their "Love is Beautiful" album. This song is where the album title comes from, too. The video is cool and abstract, and the drumming is so awesome in this.
17. Saragi no Tou--GLAY: Whenever I hear this song, I think of the movie "Labyrinth" and that scene where Sarah's trapped in the bubble dancing with David Bowie. I think it's the guitars that make me think of it this way. It feels very 80's that way.
18. BE FREE--GReeeeN: Theme from the movie "Negative Happy Chainsaw Edge." The song has a free feeling.
19. Namidazora--GReeeeN: Love the beat to this song. And I swear that the tune was sampled for NEWS' upcoming song "Fly Again."
20. Kiseki--GReeeeN: Theme song to ROOKIES, and what an absolutely perfect theme song it was. It makes me want to cry when I hear it, it makes me that happy. I did cry in that one episode when I heard it when Shinjo came back to the team.
21. Tabidachi--GReeeeN: This song always makes me smile. The video is just like the song, and it's so sweet!
22. Ai Uta--GReeeeN: First GReeeeN song I ever heard, and I loved their song. Plus, it's a love song!
23. Youkubou no Rain--Tomapi: Had to throw a bit of Tomapi in here for good measure. And who among us doe not love this performance?
24. Zukoke Otokomichi--Kanjani8: Kanjani8 are my dorks for life. I love doing the dance to this song.
25. Heavenly Psycho--Kanjani8: My absolute favorite K8 song. If I'm not mistaken, isn't it Ryo-chan's favorite song to perform with K8, too?
26. It's My Soul--Kanjani8: Didn't like this song until I saw them perform it on something, and then I just loved it to death. It cracks me up.
27. Wahaha--Kanjani8: Second favorite K8 song. Lots of crackaliciousness.
28. DON'T U EVER STOP--KAT-TUN: Despite my previous aversions to KAT-TUN, I came to quite like them after watching the DON'T U EVER STOP PV. Because for once, it actually had a story to it. Have you seen the making? I think those guys are even dorkier than NEWS. Not Jin, though. Sadly.
29. LIPS--KAT-TUN: Theme song to 1 Pound Gospel, which is when I started liking it. Despite the somewhat crappy PV.
30. Ashita Hareru Kana--Keisuke Kuwata: Theme song to Proposal Daisakusen. Sometimes this song makes me want to cry.
31. Odore--Micro: Theme song to Osen. REALLY good song. Love the guitars in this. And it's Uchi's drama, come on!
32. Chiisana Koi no Uta--MONGOL 800: This was the insert theme song in ProDai. Awesome late-90's song with a great flow to it.
33. Hitoribocchi no Haburashi--Nagase Tomoya as Sakuraba Yuichiro: Theme song to the first (and in my opinion, better) season of Mukodono. It's called "The Lonely Toothbrush" which sounds funny, but when you think about your toothbrush being the only one there...kind of sad.
34. Game of Love--NEWS: It's newer, but I love the whole New Kids on the Block sound it has. XD
35. SHOCK ME vs Devil or Angel--NEWS: This was my favorite part in the whole NEWS Pacific DVD. It's a battle royale, and the two songs together just are amazing.
36. Ai no Matador--NEWS: Love it for the sheer perviness. And Keii-chan hip-thrusting. Plus my own PV to it that I made up in my head that involves NEWS with unbuttoned white shirts, fedoras, and lots of sweat while a couple does the lambada....yeah...
37. Code--NEWS: Amazing song. Really. Ryo-chan has so much passion when he performs it.
38. Ai Nante--NEWS: First NEWS song I fell in love with. It's beautiful.
39. Hadashi no Cinderella Boy--NEWS: I threw this in for one of my friends before it turned into my ultimate playlist. But still, the song is awesome.
40. SUMMERTIME--NEWS: Theme song to the summer. LOVE IT.
41. I.ZA.NA.I.ZU.KI.--NEWS: Shige's "kuchizuke wooo" made me love it.
42. Cherish--NEWS: Very cute song. I do the hand movements when I hear it.
43. NEWS Nippon--NEWS: 1-2-3-4-5-6-7! IT'S BIG NEWS!
44. WeeeeK--NEWS: Theme song for...the YEAR. Love it, love it, love it.
45. Taiyou no Namida--NEWS: So angsty, but a really good song. Theme song for Kurosagi movie, and it's the first real single I bought of theirs. Rain, NEWS, awesome.
46. Bambina--NEWS: This song should be on DDR! Seriously! And it's pervy! I love the middle part where Yamapi goes in that schmexy voice, "I want to make you feel it more." Only in Japanese...
47. SNOW EXPRESS--NEWS: The beat is great in this song, and I love how it breaks, too.
48. Champione--ORANGE RANGE: Watch the PV, that's all I'll say.
49. Kimi Station--ORANGE RANGE: Theme song to Lost Time Life. I think of Keii-chan every time I hear it now. It's a pretty song.
50. Shanghai Honey--ORANGE RANGE: It was featured in the drama Orange Days in this scene where they're all singing it in the car. Eita and Nari-kun doing the hand movements...
51. Viva Rock--ORANGE RANGE: Amazingly awesome rock song. Oi oi oi!
52. Ikenai Taiyou--ORANGE RANGE: First ORANGE RANGE song I ever heard, of course. Beginning theme for Hana Kimi. Perfect song for that time, too, since it was summer.
53. Bouyaku no Sora--SADS: Theme song for IWGP. This song is just made of awesome, and the leader singer's voice is so unique.
54. Sekai wa Sore wo Ai to Yobun da ze--Sambomaster: AWESOME END THEME TO DENSHA OTOKO.
55. I Love You--Sambomaster: Favorite song of their latest album. Simple, and the lyrics are good.
56. Seishun Amigo--Shuji to Akira: Theme song to Nobuta wo Produce. Si, oretachi wa itsudemo futari da hitotsu datta!
57. Poison--Sorimachi Takashi: Theme song to the ultimate school drama--GTO. Makes me think of a former biker who gives it up and then gives people advice in this song. Don't ask.
58. Ai Ai Gasa--TegoMasu: Such a cute song, deshou? Plus, I learned the word "kasa" from this song, lol.
59. KISS~Kaerimichi no LOVE SONG--TegoMass: Oh, I adore this song. Love to sing it. Some day, I shall sing it at karaoke with Keii-chan. Don't ask.
60. Kimi + Boku = LOVE?: First heard it on LoveCom and thought it was such a cute ska-like song. TegoMass always has cute songs!
61. Cadence--TOKIO: The proof that TOKIO rocks is in this song.
62. Sorafune--TOKIO: Theme song to My Boss, My Hero. Nagase's voice is powerful here.
63. Amegasa--TOKIO: Theme song to Yasuko to Kenji. More proof that TOKIO rocks in every way possible. They rock so much they could totally leave JE and make it on their own.
64. Dareka no Negai ga Kanau Koro--Utada Hikaru: Such a sad, yet beautiful song. And Hiki sounds on the verge of tears here.
65. Prisoner of Love--Utada Hikaru: Theme to Last Friends. Don't know why, but everytime I hear this song, it sounds sexy. I know it's not, but still...
66. Home Binestu 39 degrees--UVERworld: ROCK at its finest. Brilliant drums at the beginning.
67. Shamrock--UVERworld: Theme to Dance Drill. I always want to dance to this song.
68. 心が指す場所と口癖 そして君がついて来る--UVERworld: Sorry, I don't know what the romaji is for the title. Takuya's voice amazes me in this song. A rare rock ballad.
69. Shaka Beach~Laka Laka La--UVERworld: Doesn't it feel very beachy at the beginning? Kind of Spanishy, but then it get into total ROCK.
70. Just break the limit!--UVERworld: I love UVERworld, I can't help it. They just rock so hard. This song rocks hard, then softens, the rocks again.
71. UTAO-UTAO--V6: Theme song to Tiger and Dragon. Very fun to sing, and I always feel happy when I hear it. The PV is majorly cute, too.
72. Bokura no Love Story--WaT: Favorite WaT song. I know it by heart. I have a feeling it's one of Eiji's favorite songs, too. In their newest concert DVD, he got really emotional singing it.
73. Go Senshi--WaT: I love to sing this song. It constantly goes through my head.
74. Hava Rava--WaT: Had to include this. It's the ultimate dork song!
75. Bokura no Ibasho--WaT: After I heard this on the concert DVD, I immediately went to my WaT collection and started listening to it. I love the song so much. I recently read the manga that Aya Nakahara did about Teppei, and I found out that Bokura no Ibasho is the first song they ever wrote together.
76. Awaking Emotion 8/5--WaT or Eiji Wentz: It's always bothered me that this should be "Awakening Emotion" in proper English. You'd think with English-speaking family, Eiji would know to change the title. Still, song rocks, even if Eiji looks like Edward Scissorhands in the PV.
77. Endless Rain--X-Japan: One of those total 90's power ballads. Rock on.
78. Crucify My Love--X-Japan: Such an emo song. And it's in English. But I do love the piano.
79. Forever Love--X-Japan: Favorite X-Japan song. It is most definitely an EPIC SONG.
80. Daite Senorita--Yamashita Tomohisa: Theme song to Kurosagi. I used to like singing it because it really feels like a detective show theme song. But now I laugh when I hear it because I remember how Keii-chan does his weird karaoke along with it. XD Yamapi's hot in the video, though.
