I'm glad that he told her he followed the recipe exactly, because anticipating the taste of Lasagna with Beer Bolognese Sauce for the time it took to heat it (when the original recipe was for Lasagne with Bolognese Sauce) would be nasty. Beer can have its place in a stew, but not in this!

I can see where he would settle into his new role more easily (if not more gracefully according to Mrs. Dennison) than she would, because she has more things tugging on her and pulling her focus away from seeing what she does accomplish. Of course Jack, who has had to come to terms with the role himself, can see it, and let her see it through his eyes.

Some day in the future, they both may even be able to pass for normal in the eyes of the Mrs. Dennisons of this world, but anyone who gets to really know them will soon find out that no, these two can never be normal, no matter how much they pretend to be so.

I do hope that when spring comes, Jack will take up the shovel again (or perhaps hire someone with the proper earthmoving equipment) so that by next year's Holiday Potluck, he can have the kids over for a barbeque and a parents vs. kids pickup game on the pond.

Heehee, I agree. These two may pass for normal but they're definitely not. No matter how long they'll be on Earth and even after Sam also retires some time in the future they'll still seem slightly off to a keen observer. Not surprising after all the things they've seen, and I think that's another reason why they're perfect for each other- no outsider will ever truly get them. Exhibit A: The Pete- disaster. :p
