[RL] Accidents!!

16th of August, 2008:
We went to Kemaman, Terengganu to go for my cousin's betrothal...err...engagement. Anyway, it was a pretty long drive and when we got there, we checked in into the hotel/motel (cause my Uncle's house ain't big enough to fit us all). Anyway, we arrived a day early so we could help out with the preparations.

17th August, 2008:
Mama went to pick up Grandma and my aunt at the bus station. This is in the evening, maybe around 5-ish. They came back to my uncle's house safely. Mama was about to sit down on the wooden setee while talking to me but my cousin, who was 7, was trying to edge in between my mom's legs and grabbed her knees. She apparently had it in her mind to give my mom a piggy back ride! She pulled my mom's knees right from under her feet. I watched in horror as my mom fall in slow motion to the ground; every other senses broke down. My mom fell on the marbled floor and rolled over in pain. The first thing I did when I came to was to check her head. Of course, everyone else in the house (except for my cousin who ran away in shock and guilt) wanted to check out what happened and crowded my mom.

It turns out that there was nothing wrong with her head; she managed to shield her head with her hand. She was groaning in pain and my grandma started to pull her hand, saying that she had twisted it. I shrieked and told everyone to back off; I told them not to touch anything because something might have broken. Everything about first aid left my brain. I touched her hand gingerly and found that she had injured her wrist. I asked for ice and a scarf; the best I could think off, despite my grandma's protests. I think she just didn't want to consider her daughter-in-law's hand to be broken.

Called Abah but Ariff, my brother answered. Apparently my dad had left his phone with my brother. I told him about the accident and went to get ready to take Mama to the ER. It turned out to be broken, after all. I waited with Mama for nearly 5 hours from start to finish; from the sloppy 1st aid until the cast dried. I think she was somewhat glad that I was there, though she never said anything. I missed dinner and when we got back to the hotel, the exhaustion and the distress finally sunk in and when Abah and I had a little disagreement about the keys, I nearly lost it. I broke down in the cold shower, because that was the last straw; what I really wanted was a really hot one.

18th August, 2008:
The engagement. Didn't run as smoothly as they hoped. I did like the fact that my mom depended on me for quite a lot of things, I felt needed.
Note to self: If you ever want to get married, please skip the engagement and go straight for the wedding. And make it simpple! And I just realized that I have no pics of my mom's cast. Oh well...

21st August, 2008:
Back to Campus, Penang.

2nd September, 2008:
I sprained my right arm while on the campus bus. I had 5 tomes of library books (read: extremely heavy!) and no empty seats so I had to stand. I held onto the overhead luggage area for life. The bus made a sudden stop (because the driver nearly drove the bus into another one) and the whole content of the bus lurched. I twisted my right arm and to make it worse, the girl standing next to me also lost her footing and slammed into my side. I didn't feel the effect immediately. That night when I was at my PC, my arm hurt like hell and for a moment, I thought I had Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. My last two fingers swelled quite badly and so did my wrist. My hand was bandaged for almost a week? I could write and all after the first day (although quite slowly) but I couldn't do heavy lifting or turn it at certain angles. Of course, the whole joint, elbow to shoulder ached like hell. I can't drive, as well, so I walk everyday to class! So throughout the whole week, I kind of understood a little how my mom felt. :(

9th September, 2008:
Decided to not wear the bandages and lightweight training for the arm (rehab/fisio? lol). Still stings a little but I can handle it even without the support. Phew! Talk about being accident prone! I hope this arm heals without any long-term side-effects. I mean, when I sprained my left ankle, it refused to return to normal and the muscle kind of healed that way so I still feel a twinge of pain if I set my foot down wrongly. *crosses fingers*

Side note:

Ain't he just cute?! If he is like Nomiya-san in HachiKuro. Because I feel for Yamada and Nomiya's relationship - because I know how it feels to be in a kataomoi. Look it up!
