*Sigh* Skip if you're not interested in personal ramblings, please. :)
Well, I'm finally back in campus and wireless connection in the rooms are still unavailable even after all those promises. *sigh* I guess I've never expected much of them in the first place anyway. I was promoted (or demoted, depending on your prespective) up to the 9th floor from my previous ground floor room. It's pretty okay...we get a better view compared to the last room and better air circulation. The only con is that the bathroom/toilet is pretty sucky but that may be remedied soon. The other con is that the water pressure is low. Oh, I just remembered another one: we have discovered the presence of "Charlies" on this floor, small black and orange weevil-like bugs that secrete a liquid that causes some severe acid-like burns. Up until now, I don't know why it's called "Charlie" nor do I know it's scientific name but I have 3 different scars of various sizes from contact with that insect; with the worst one behind my left knee. It took more than 2 weeks to heal completely. Ehehe...I guess that should be a big issue, ne?
On a lighter note, the funny part about living on the 9th floor is that now that I'm actually living off the ground, I get to use the elevator; but having stayed on the ground floor for two years, I'm unaccustomed to using the elevator (here. Ones in shopping complexes don't count!). That means, I instinctively exit it when the doors slide open; so I usually get off on the wrong floor when I have other people on it with me. It's happened 4 times already in this week alone. Other than that, I also make it a habit to use the stairs when I'm going down, because climbing up nine floors is just not something I think I can do everyday. But I may attempt that later...a firmer set of thighs and behind is surely a good enough motivation.
I think I'm terminally addicted to the Net. I've been away for a while and I'm already anxious to go online! I need to get connected!!!!!! I want my Internet!! X(
This should be my final year in Uni but since I'm extending a semester, I'll be graduating a year later (because we only have one graduation in an academic session). I'm undertaking only 15 credits this semester so, I should be more free but I doubt it. I might even get Friday off (no class) but I'll be doing an oceanography-related paper for my thesis, so a lot of research is required, I guess. I'm also continuing my Japanese language classes. Maybe I'll do Spanish after this one. I dislike French; mostly because everyone is taking it...and it's soo hard to pronounce. Oh, I've also developed a liking for classical music now...thanks to Nodame Cantabille (the drama); though, even before, I was already inclined to like violin and piano based orchestra music. I think Ryu and Kiyora are a cute couple (I have a habit of making people other than the main actors/actresses as my favorites). I even considered naming my daughter (if I have one) Kiyora. It's such a pretty name.
I just noticed that I like actresses like Makiko Esumi, Koyuki, Maya Miki and Angelina Jolie. And now the person who plays Kiyora Miki (Mizugawa Asami)! Notice the pattern? Well, you may ask if you're interested. XP
Oh, since classes haven't begun, I took the oportunity to watch a movie. Transformers, of course! The one word that kept flashing in my head throughout the movie was "KICKASS~!!" I like Shiou (is that how it's spelt?) since long ago and I thought the revving engines were just sexy. My old car was like that and it was a totally nostalgic experience. I Loved Bumblebee but I had shivers when Optimus Prime came out! Not because of him particularly but Optimus Prime and Megatron were the most prominent ones from my childhood memories. I forgot most of the other names as I grew up but those two stuck themselves in there. Usually engines and guns don't turn me on but this time, it did. Not to forget the deep vibrating resonance of their mechanical voices. I thought the way the Autobots changed form was sooo cool but then my brain took over and started to analyze the technical parts like "I wonder what program they use to generate this" and "i wonder where they made the windows disappear to." Oh, and a friend pointed out to me that the only two prominent female characters in the movie just had to be drop dead gorgeous. I didn't mind it pretty much...the rest of the movie and plot made up for it. XP It was almost perfect!
The only turn off was the movie-going crowd. I felt like slipping off my sandals and throwing them to the row behind. They were soooo irritating! The woman kept explaining the whole thing to the guy and spoiling the movie for the rest of us. Then his PHONE rang! I might have forgiven him if he had just cancelled the call and reverted to silent mode but he actually ANSWERED the phone! I did give them some annoyed stares but they were too thick-faced to notice. Oh, and I think there were plenty of sarcastic or subtle jokes in the movie (I should collect the quotes!) but HE didn't get it so the woman felt like it was her obligation to EXPLAIN them to him!! My 1st (younger) brother, Ariff, loves to go to the movies (I love watching them) and he complains all the time about people like this. He wished that the cinemas would have a special place/time for the avid movie goers or movie buffs where they can come and enjoy a good movie without people like this to interrupt. I agree! It's not being discriminating because serious movie buffs would most probably know how to respect other movie goers because they themselves hate to be disturbed during their movies.
