About 2 weeks ago I arrived at Heathrow and noticed the most equipped security guy ever. He looked like he was ready for a Sylvester Stalone movie. Of all of the people I saw at the airport, he is the only one I really looked at.
Less than 2 weeks ago I flew out of Heathrow - American Airlines flight 91 (Just now realized that my dad was scheduled to be on an American flight that crashed in 1979 - flight 191.)
This week I ahve been making all sorts of plans for traveling to London on the 24th.
Since I have always considered myself one of the least likely people to impacted personally by terrorism, today's events in London threw me for a loop. Last July, when tubes and a bus were bombed, I wasn't scared but worried and busy (trying to find people who went missing), I didn't feel like it really impacted me. Today I was scared - very scared.
So now, although it is probably the safest time to fly, I will not be going to London - and I am glad.
My new motto is - better chaos than catastrophy
