Not very active on LJ...
So, as the title says, I haven't been very active on LJ in the last couple of weeks. It's just been too much work to do much with my email or LJ what with trying to sell the house, working a new job (even if only 3 days a week, it's still physically demanding) and getting sick last week. In any event, I did in fact get over the illness with no long-term after effects, am still working and we are still trying to sell the house.
As for work, I have two possibilities for permanence there on the horizon, one for a payroll position I formally put in for and one for a position of a guy I'm currently working with (shipping/receiving) if he gets the facilities position he put in for. Either one would likely put me into five days a week, would likely give me a greater hourly wage and would ultimately give benefits. While that last one might not seem as big a deal, there has been a fair amount of dental care that I just haven't been able to get taken care of, since the cost would still be significant after insurance, but not so much for double insurance. So I keep hoping for that.
As for the house, we continue to improve its appearance each and every weekend, but it never seems to be enough. Our realtor wanted us to use a professional cleaning (notably, Merry Maids) in order to get it up to speed, but after hearing it was a minimum two hours at $95/hour, that just simply ceased to be an option. We do have someone coming to help us powerwash the house this morning (at a much lower cost, obviously) and in the meantime we'll continue to scrub down areas and keep decluttering things more and more. There's an open house again today (changed from Sunday to hopefully finally avoid rain), and I really hope we'll finally have an offer today.
In any event, I can't promise that I'll be posting as often as I should, but that's what's coming up in the near future. In the meantime, I hope you all know that just because I'm not my usual talkative self doesn't mean I don't care--it just means that I'm too overloaded with other things to keep up with it.
