End of year meme thingy.
Oldie but goldie, don't think I did this last year.
1. What did you do in 2013 that you'd never done before?
Visited a waterfall! Went to Rainfurrest. Donated platelets for a cancer patient. Hung out at a convention with Tyrnn.
2. Did you keep your new year's resolutions, and will you make more for 2014?

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Nope
4. Did anyone close to you die?
Nope
5. What countries did you visit?
None
6. What would you like to have in 2014 that you lacked in 2013?
I'd like to get a second vehicle (SUV) for roadtrips and moving stuff too big for my car. However this isn't looking too good currently.
7. What dates from 2013 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
My seattle trip in the fall and some good nights out doing astronomy. Why? Cause good times!
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Changing jobs at work, big step forward! Got a fat raise with it too!
9. What was your biggest failure?
Still struggling with weight loss. I made progress but pathetically little still.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Nothing major.
11. What was the best thing you bought?
New TV
12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
Tyrnn and Ribnose. Tyrnn for being a good friend, Ribnose for facing down her fears and going for what she wanted! I don't know her all that well (just met a little at the con) but she's pretty cool and I'm glad stuff worked out for her!
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
The entire US government. The Prez and both houses of congress should resign, every last motherfucker in there. Resign and set special elections to start with a whole new set of people and agree to never run for office again. They are done, retired, finished. Time to clean house and put in some serious people in their place.
14. Where did most of your money go?
Savings actually, and that is a good thing!
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Visiting with Tyrnn and others out in Seattle!

Happier

Thinner, another 10 down. Still more to go!

Richer - paid off my car and poured more money into savings and investment. My debt is nearly gone.

Losing more weight

Struggling like hell to chisel off every damn pound.

Done with, it was good.

I wanted to pay off the last of my non house debt, but fell a bit short. I think I can nail it next year if all goes well.

Took the day off, was #37
31. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Losing 20 pounds instead of 10. I'll just have to try harder in 2014.

Well one piece of good news is I've gone from being an XXL/XL guy to an XL/L guy. I can also now shop in the normal sized people store again for clothes. Hey, its progress.

Alfandria MUCK mostly :P
34. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Big fan of Elon Musk, Richard Branson and others who are pushing hard to develop commercial spaceflight. 2014 is going to be a really big year for this!
35. What political issue stirred you the most?
Just want a start over with the government. Our constitution is fine, but we need to clean house big time and maybe even totally redo some things like the tax code and such to make them work well in the 21st century.
36. Who did you miss?
Found myself thinking about a few friends who passed in the last few years. I guess I'll be doing more of that as I get older.
37. Who was the best new person you met?
Ribnose, great artist and nice person!

40. Sum up the year as good/bad?
Good year, plenty of learning experiences and new stuff. Some changes coming both physically and mentally as I start to enter middle age. I've started to grey at the temples and I'm picking up scars/bruises more easily now and small print is a little harder to deal with than it used to be. I've also started the great countdown. 30 years till retirement as of my birthday. Long way to go still, we'll see what comes next in 2014.
