An older-model Sony electronic ink reader (PRS-300) went on sale at woot.com for $110 about a week ago. I couldn't resist. My verdict is

I like itand I think I know why. It's flat. You don't need to hold it open to read it. You hold it very casually with one hand, or even set it on the surface in front of you. Somehow, that makes reading ( Read more... )

Cool! One question--can you upload PDFs to it? And can you zoom in at all, or are you stuck at whatever resolution they were printed at? That's what I really want to use an e-reader for... a lot of my work reading is in PDFs (8-1/2 x 11, up to three columns)--pretty much illegible if you can't zoom in.

That's two questions! You cheater!

Yes, it does PDFs; yes, there's a zoom button; but I haven't tried it on a three-column PDF. I'm not sure the columns would be handled right. If you want to send me a sample doc, I can see how it works on it.
