Israeli blues

So, I'm in Israel. Have been for a few days and I have to say that I've been enjoying some of the sights.

I've been to the Kotel (the Western Wall) and got loads of info about it from my sister. She got to see the actuall excavation site that was dug recently and it's REALLY cool to think that it's a ginormous wall compared to the people who would have built it and it's still standing after like 3000 years.

I also got to visit old Jerusalem. It's kind of wierd to be walking by buildings that are over 3000 years old...also, there are 3 "suburban" neighborhoods that were built outside the old city walls at around the same time as the New World was being colonized.

I walked the Haifa beach of the Mediterranean Sea today. God that is beautiful water. Being from Toronto I don't see too many clear waters and mountains, but imagine driving on a highway that sits equidistant between a mountain range (the Carmel mountains) and the Mediteranean.

I miss my Memmie. Lots and lots. I can't wait to come home and be with her. On top of the facts that I will be in a comfortable place with people that I truly share my life with (that's Mem and Kami, for anyone keeping track) I will also be in a place where I don't have to hear air raid sirens.

I love you Memmie, I'll be back as soon as possible. I'm keeping myself as safe as I can and I don't spend too much time at once in Haifa.

I think this message has gone long enough, so I'll wrap it up.

P.S.- congrats on moving into the new place Khar and Sarah, I'll come visit as soon as I can once I get back :)
