Tora sat by the bed, staring at Saga as he slept into the afternoon. Shou and Hiroto were sitting on the floor by the window, talking quietly with their hands linked. Yuuto and Iv had returned to the Underground to inform the Queen of Saga's current condition.

There had been very little progress, according to Shou. Byou and Jin had been vicious and uncooperative, and only gave their names and the clan they belonged to. Then, Byou had giggled madly before attempting to attack Hiroto, prompting Shou to deliver him a ferocious kick to the head and knocking him out again.

They said that Jin had simply glared at everyone, before retreating back into the cell he was being kept in silently. He said nothing at all, refusing to speak even under the Queen's commands and Shou's threats, and they finally gave up, before transferring Byou into another cell at the far end of the corridor.

But after examining the room again, another of the Queen's mages, Ko-ki, had found some other traces of the magic used that was lingering in the room, discovering that it was a curse before he fainted suddenly. At this news, Iv had become panicked, asking Shou if he was doing fine now.

"Well, when we left. he had just woken up," Hiroto had replied. "Are you okay?"

"He's my best friend," Iv had explained. "We went through everything together, and when Yuuto came along, he was like our big brother and the three of us were almost always together."

Yuuto had looked deeply upset, and then Tora had asked, "Wait - if you could touch Saga's mind and find the curse, then why didn't anything happen to you?"

"It can only work once. Traces of it, however, can hurt others," he had answered quietly. "It also does not make them immune. I hope Ko-ki will stay back from Jin and Byou, then. He does not need to be hurt."

After this, they had heard a cry from Saga's room, before rushing to the room, only to find Saga tossing about and whimpering in his sleep. Tora had reached out to touch Saga, to calm him - and it worked. He returned to sleep then, and everyone agreed that he, Shou and Hiroto ought to stay while the two mages went back to the Queen.

Now Tora was just looking at Saga, hoping that he would awaken soon. There were a lot of things he needed to explain to him. He only hoped that he would be able to understand it.

As soon as he thought that, though, Saga's eyelids fluttered open. He sat up as soon as he noticed Tora, and beamed at him. "Tora! You stayed!"

"Yeah -" Tora began, but paused as he noticed Saga staring at Shou and Hiroto uncertainly.

Then, he broke out into a smile and said hopefully, "Shou! You're here!"

There was just the slightest hint of fear in there, and Tora realised that he wasn't afraid of Shou hurting him again - he was afraid that his attempt to be on good terms with Shou would be mocked and rejected again.

"Yeah, I am," Shou said hesitantly, smiling slightly. "This is my lover, Hiroto."

Hiroto waved, and Saga grinned back, before he frowned somewhat. "Wait... but you aren't... supposed to... Shou, why do you look grown up?"

"Well... Saga, you know that there are other demons, right? And that some others have great magical power, more than all the other clans?" Hiroto said kindly while Saga nodded seriously. "You were hit by a... a spell, you see. And you turned younger, mentally."

Saga's eyes widened. "Really? So I'm supposed to be older?"

Hiroto nodded. "Yeah. You're supposed to be eighteen. We are all your friends now, Saga."

"Eighteen..." Saga murmured, but he seemed otherwise incapable of fully understanding what being that age meant. Then he looked up at Shou and said softly, "You don't mind me, now?"

Shou nodded. "Yeah. You're my little brother, and that's a good thing."

Saga nodded and smiled brilliantly. "Thank you, Shou."

Tora was watching it all with relief - Saga seemed open and trusting to Shou and Hiroto. Then, to his surprise, Saga scuttled over and hugged him tightly.

"Saga?" Tora asked warily, surprised.

"You feel safe," Saga replied simply, innocently. "Tora, you said you'll protect me, right? I'm safe with you."

Tora nodded. "That's right. I promised," he said softly. "And you'll be safe here, in this apartment."

Saga released him a bit, looking up. "Is this the human world, then? Why am I here?"

"You live here, actually. You have got friends and everything in the human world - you left the Underground a while back. This is your home, Saga," Tora explained, deliberately leaving out the fact that they were lovers.

"Do they know what I am?" Saga asked, seemingly unsurprised.

Tora shook his head. "No, of course not. But they really like you, all of them. They are very nice people, and are very good friends to you."

Saga nodded, looking down at Tora's shirt. "It sounds so weird... but I know you won't lie to me. I will be careful, Tora. I promise!"

For a second, Tora thought that the real Saga was in front of him - that the real Saga was the one uttering those words so seriously. Yet when he looked at those eyes, he knew that it was still the seven-year-old - the boy who had grown up too fast, understanding hatred before his time.

"Well... Saga? Do you want to see a couple of your friends? They live right next door," Tora said kindly, smiling.

Saga nodded. "Okay! Let's go!"

Split into two parts for a good reason. Part B is supposed to be joined to this but I wanted to update tonight, so... well, enjoy this? Yeah. Saga knows now...
