I guess I should give my account of the weekend's proceedings.
geoduck covered most of it, but I'll add a few points of my own.
Las Vegas is a nice place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there. I've lived most of my life in places where you don't get temperature extremes, so I'm not used to the intense heat there (I can handle cold winters, but there's only so much you can do to beat the heat in the desert). I'm not into gambling so I didn't lose any money, thankfully.
The con was a blast. It was fun to see some people again (Colleen Clinkenbeard, Jennifer Sekiguchi, Mike Sinterniklaas, JYB) and meet some voice actors I hadn't met in person before (Lex and Sandy, Laura Bailey,
mikemc1 , Mary McGlynn). It was also great to meet
bctaris - hopefully
geoduck and I didn't annoy him with our incessant back-and-forth bantering.
In terms of being a member of the press, this was the best con we've been to. This was the first time the con organizer actually arranged interviews for us, and we did indeed have the interviews. It was also the first time I've ever been in the green room. I don't expect that'll happen again, but you never know. All in all, this was a fabulous con experience.
The Wynn Casino buffet is to die for, especially the deserts. I had creme caramel, cheescake, raspberry tart and creme brulee. Oh yeah, and for my main courses I had seared salmon, rack of lamb, sweet potato ravioli, and all the king crab legs I could handle. Yum.
Am I going back next year? Maybe. I'll probably be making a lot more money by then, and if Spamalot is indeed playing at the Wynn, I'll be wanting to see that. So I think I'll pencil my name in.
