The robotics competition was a lot of fun, as always. The robot caught fire and shut down during the first match... and was plagued by many problems throughout the competition... but by the very last match everything was working fine. The robot moved into position, the camera locked onto the target and the cannon fired... points were scored... all without human input. Autonomous robots are so cool.
Unfortunately I only get excited about robotics after witnessing the awesome competitions. By the time next year's game is issued and its finally time to do some work, this excitement will have most likely faded away. At this moment, though, I'd really, really like to do some programming for ze robot. Figure out how to have it recognize and track enemies, perhaps.
And Abe's class might include a virtual robotics war... with a focus on ai and autonomous communication between team members. Pretty close to one of my dream games.
Visiting family was fun too... glad I got a chance to do that, as it looks like I may have too much homework over spring break to actually make it home again. There may only be time for this hypothetical Vegas trip with friends. We'll see. And, my sisters who attend ASU have their spring break a week earlier than us. Kate is actually up here visiting now... and Angie will hopefully make it up later this week... So it won't be too bad if I don't make it down again.
