To Erin (or anyone else with an equal or greater fluency in Japanese): I need to know how to say "Stop talking about me, I know perfectly well what you're saying" in Japanese. I also need to know the words for "roomate", "loser", "lazy", "unorganized", and "sleeps in past noon all of the time, often through his classes" so that I can have a good chance at delivering the phrase with good timing. My new roomate, Koichi, is a grad student studying to teach English in Japan. Apparently NAU has a large Japanese exchange program, and I've just moved into the periphery of it. I get to listen to Japanese conversations all of the time now. ^^

Oh, NAU is nice. I guess I never did report on that yet. Trees are abundant, food is scarce. I have not yet seen any snow, or squirrels, or skunks, though I did get a balloon skunk. Petting him makes a screachy sound that is not entirely bearable, though. Alas, I forgot to bring up all of my stuffed animals. I also forgot my towels, my hangers, and my pot. The cooking type, if I even have to make that distinction. Worst of all though, I forgot my Totoro wall scroll. Twice. It's absence is kindof souring the whole experience.

My classes seem okay overall. DifEq looks like it could be cool, and Physics is still fun. Statistics (for engineers) looks like it will be horrible. I have two others, but I don't feel like saying anything more about classes. They really aren't what I'm focusing on up here at the moment. They're just kindof there, waiting on the side... scheming, but not yet openly hostile.

Justin is really, really busy all of the time, too busy to notice me slowly stealing all of his friends. It's a real shame that I'm the oldest person I know under thirty, as I feel much, much more comfortable when others scout ahead for me, at least somewhat.

Now I must go, lest I keep my roomate awake. He's only been in the country for a couple weeks and already his sleeping schedule is better adjusted than mine. ::sigh::

Bye all!
