today was an odd day. it was gray all day. everywhere, gray. hazy. I couldn't see the mountains. it was...odd.
work. work work work.
I'm continually fascinated by my field. Sat in on a meeting today between the architects, contractor, and various subcontractors - the glass people, the masonry people, the pre-casters, the structural steel people, the 'other' steel people.... all arguing over what they DON'T get to do.
example: "turn to page S-609, detail number 245 - see that hooked rebar at the bottom of the drawing? We're NOT accountable for that"
"so who is?"
and then proceed to discuss for 15, 20 mins who is...
but a golden quote, from the superintendent of construction, regarding the existing tree salvage and removal from the site, referring to some discrepency between us and the landscape sub -
"I'll just get in there with a chainsaw and solve whatever problem we have left..."
so now I'm working late tonight to get addendum #4 out tomorrow, writing legal-lingo stuff like "Drawing 2, ENLARGED VESTIBULE REFLECTED CEILING PLAN - LEVEL 02, add detail references 7/A-721 TYP and 8/A-721 TYP per sketch ASD-128"
only have to work late because tomorrow my next project is already beginning - an elemantary school. Deer Valley Unified School District #97 elementary #26. It's in Anthem. for those not in the phoenix area, anthem is the mother of all suburban planned community developements. the mother, or more fittingly, the grossly bloated and infectious bastard child. It will be interesting, to say the least, working with people who actually enjoy living there. but, I'm excited to begin.
so, better get cracking. and eat something, sometime or other... late lunch, and that's been it all day. oh well
