I think if there were some way you could communicate effectively to a child what is involved in a root canal and the aftermath, I think children(or adults for that matter) in general would never go to bed without brushing (and flossing).
To be fair, the actual root canal wasn't very painful. The anasthetic was brief to apply and not nearly as bad as I thought it would be (unfortunatley I had heard some horror stories to set this up). The procedure itself was relatively pain free, in fact it was kind of fascinating for this warped geek (sadistically twisted, I know). In all, it took about 2 hours for everything to be completed.
I'm not gonna bore folks with the details following, but needless to say afterward I felt like George Foreman had landed an uppercut to my jaw. I have some good drugs to deal with it, but needless to say my incentive to keep the care of my chompers constant and frequent has received a considerable boost. Not that I needed one to begin with.
