It's really difficult for me to generalize about the attendance at PAC. I try not to eavesdrop because I find it demeaning, so the only people whose opinions I hear much are the really loud guys up front. Well, other than the fact that people laugh at all sorts of things, of course.
Yeah, Champloo isn't really about tense battles (although by this point there has been one opponent who was actually more skilled than Jin and Mugenand, interestingly enough, she was also the only female semi-villain I've seen so far. One of the two female characters who actually fight, too.), it's about style and gags, in my opinion. That's fine by me though. I like badassness. Still, I do tend to prefer the shows that also have badass villains.
Is 「チャンプル」 related to "CHAMPLOO"? I never did have any idea what it meant, but I suppose I was thinking of it as somewhat similar to the word "Bebop." Just the atmosphere, I guess.

Properly, the main character would be 「フウ」, but, in any case, I'm not going to eat it, particularly after the way you introduced it.
