I finally saw Wall-E! It was probably one of the BEST kid's movies I've ever seen. The robot Wall-E is absolutely charming, but what really makes it spectacular is the message it sends.
Warning: some spoiler type things.
The earth's future is grim, according to Disney, where earth is completely polluted to the point there is no place there isn't trash, so humans leave while Wall-E's clean up our mess. The US was being run by a president of a giant wholesale store, who sent everyone into space. Yeah, good idea. It was supposed to be a five year excursion, but ended up being 700 years. In that time, the human population became morbidly obese, the entire population my friends. Robots were doing everything for them. It hits you midway through the movie that this could be our future, if we give over to all our vices and keep taking the "easy" way out. As wonderfully delightful the movie is, it drives a point home to the adult viewers: if we really don't do everything we can to save our future today, where will we really end up tomorrow?
Overall: good job, Disney, good job.
It's a must-see movie for the summer. More on my 4th weekend extravaganza!
