I'm a bad influence on my hockey girls...I'm not coaching this year but it seems like I still have some influence, sometimes it is not the greatest advise they listen to.
Kelly, the captain of the team, came into my office the other week and was talking about the game they were playing that afternoon against Sauhegan. Sauhegan is at the top of the league and every time my girls go against them they get their butts kicked. Kelly and I were talking about defense and plays. Before she left I told her to get her teammates pumped up. I told her to give a good before game rally speech. I seem to remember saying something like "tell the girls that they need to take those Sauhegan bitches down a few pegs. You guys are just as good as they are."
Before the game Kelly decided to tell the team just that...except that she said that Coach S- said that they need to take those Sauhegan bitches down a few pegs...so lets go kick some ass
I arrived at the game at half time. The girls did lose but not badly. Later I heard that Kelly gave her little pep talk. Now this does not seem bad but you have to know sweet, innocent, little Kelly to appreciate that she even said it at all. Apparently the team was pumped to hear Kelly wanting to take "those bitches down a few pegs" I'm not sure the parents appreciated me teaching such unsportsman like conduct.
Oh well damage done, girls were pumped and no real harm done...I not a coach this year so what can the parents say :P
