Almost cut my cable

Comcast cable is switching some of it's upper channels to digital only and taking away the analogue feed on channels such as SyFy. For me, It would have meant installing their box and only being able to see or record what is on the box or aux adapters. Installation does not just mean installation to me, it means a good cleaning session behind the TV, rewiring things around, finding out I may need a splitter or two.
Instead I took inventory and discovered that when it came down to it, I would be paying $40 a month to get 1 hour on SyFy a week. So I went from Premium Basic to Limited Basic--2 through 24, 95 through 99, basically the local channels, still as an analogue feed direct to the back of my TV and recorders, saving that $40. No change in wiring. Took back the big box and the two small boxes they sent to me before ConClave to discover all the problems all the folks in line were having. Wrong remotes, need to change out equipment in week one and so on. Okay I'll miss Stargate SVU or whatever tonight, but I can wait for a box set, or keep up with the postage stamp presentation on my computer.
Are you all being put through a cable digital conversion after being told that having cable was the way to survive the on-air digital conversion?

Meanwhile in DVD watching, I am up to Season 8 of Stargate SG-1, on the pace of watching 4 or 5 episodes a week.
