So the summer anime season is going strong. This is hands-down my favorite season since I started following new anime as they air. It seems like this is the most lady-friendly season we’ve had in a long time, with well-done shoujo (Ao Haru Ride, Sailor Moon), yaoi/BL (Love Stage!!, Dramatical Murder), shows chock full of gorgeous guys clearly ( Read more... )

Glasslip and Argevollen are the closest to falling off my watch list. I need to find out how many episodes they have. If they each only have 13 or so, I'll probably finish just because I've watched over half. If they have 26 or more, I'll probably drop them. It's a shame, because Glasslip had the potential to be very good. The art is gorgeous and the "glimpsing the future" element could have been awesome if they'd actually USED it or attempted to explain it at all. The show is basically, "Watch these bland pretty people do bland pretty things and be generally awkward and boring". The most recent episode had the single most awkward moment I've ever seen in anime, which would have been okay if it had meant to be humorous but since it was supposed to be a serious moment, it was unintentionally hilarious.

But yeah this season is on fire. Aldnoah Zero is creeping up to the top of my list. The fight sequence in the most recent episode was the coolest thing I've seen all season (in a season full of cool things). I actually went back and watched it again because it was just so great. And Zankyou no Terror... oh my God. That bike scene in episode four with Lisa and Twelve literally made me cry (I think I relate to Lisa a little too much). Just... wow this season. I'm just scared every season from now on is gonna feel like crap by comparison.
