So I'm definitely going to Dances of Vice: La Vie Parisienne!! I'm really excited, as I'm bringing my roomaate with me this time! It's rare that I find a friend in my "normal" life who's as interested in dressing up or costuming as I am, so this is ace =) My roomate isn't a HUGE fan of dressing up, but she's excited about the burlesque acts and music so I'm happy.
So budget! 1920s style time for me! When I was 16, my high school English teacher had us do a "Great Gatsby" party for some reason. My mom modified a yellow dress for me, putting some simple beading on the hem and sleeves so that it shook when I pretended to "dance". Time to put it to good use again! I was going to put my hair in a snood originally, but now I think I'm going to take some advice from one of the rare 1920s stars with long hair:
Norma Talmadge and her tight curls!
Should I wear a cloche hat or a fascinator? Or maybe a headband. Time to go thrifting!!
Also: GAH. Must stop looking at Y!J and mBok. I told myself I wouldn't spend any more money...but it's so tempting...
Random thought for the day: If I ever get married, in addition to the Empire Strikes Back Hoth-themed wedding cake with Han, Leia, and injured wampa, I have decided that I also want a Watchmen cake! Specifically, it has to be of the giant squid monster straddling the Institute for Extraspatial Studies, complete with sugary marzipan bodies and red blood frosting. It will be special.
