a shot in the arm

on tue. me & my brother got the COVID vaccine at wal-mart. it was moderna again, as all of them have been. but we would've taken whatever brand they had a available.
my brother asked the pharmacy checker what brand it was, she didn't know & yelled back to the pharmacist who said it was spikevax. the checker said; "the what?" & she clarified "moderna."

the woman doing the injections put on something called inject-safe barrier bandage. it's designed to keep any blood from the injection site contained and to make it easier for the person giving the shot to dispose of the needle. normally, they're wrestling with the bandage to hurry up and put it on the injection site & sometimes poke the patient with the needle, or themselves. wal-mart & cvs started using them in late 2021. neither me nor my brother bled very much from the jab.

i got so nervous for the shot that i kind of felt like i might pass out. i thought; "typical. i've never passed out from a shot, but i might now." but the "pinch" wasn't that bad & might be the least painful of the original 2 moderna shots & 1 booster, bivaliant & last year's yearly one.

6-8 hours later my brother was feeling crappy, like he had a cold. which happened last year too. my arm & was hurting, but not as bad as when i had the bivalent shot. the pain was bad at night, but it was better the next day. 48+ hours later the arm & neck still hurt a tiny bit. i have a lump and a small area of a irritation/rash on my arm around the injection site. my brother still feels crappy/tired.
