the wendy's we went to a few days ago remodeled earlier this year & the interior design is going towards a modern, industrial, hipster loft kind of thing. with a lot of tan/beige, wood accents & metal, some black and a bit of red. minimal signage or decoration that if you looked at pictures of most it, you'd probably not know that it was a wendy's.
there's a lot of that going on. the hair salon in wal-mart also remodeled earlier this year & ended up in a similar state. it is decorated in generic hair salon & i told my brother that it's devoid of any personality.
i read something on-line a couple of years ago that target is changing their exteriors to industrial gray. ours was remodeled last year & is still red on the outside. but the inside got that white, florescent light, boutique thing though.
i don't need the neon look of the '80s, or the orange shag carpets of the '70s, but maybe something a bit less depressing.
it's getting to be like those dystopian movies; the working-class dressed in the same gray outfits. being taken to work in trams where they have to stand holding a rail, or strap. trudge to work in large plants, get a lunch break where they ingest food pills or some kind of liquid nourishment.
the at the end of their shift they trudge back to the trams & then home. where they watch/listen to some kind of program to escape their reality for a little while, ingest some kind of nourishment. go to sleep & repeat the next day. everything is gray, or black with some white & not even the sky has much color any more. or this all happens underground or in some giant city where transport is through tunnels to all the buildings.
