we have a wax melter thing (goes in the wall like a nightlight) in the bathroom for reasons (there's a toilet, figure it out), because you can't open the window when it's raining or cold . we get the wax cubes from wal-mart for around $2 for 6 cubes. better homes & gardens and sent sationals are pretty good brands. the wal-mart brand (mainstays) are smaller cubes & a weak scent.
the last time they had a new brand; illumiScents, some kind of soy based thing, we got the apple pie scent. after putting a cube in the melter you could sort of smell it when you were close, but didn't turn on the thing for a few days. at first we had it on for 15 minutes; no scent. the next day we tried for 20; nothing. the following day was 30; still nothing. even mainstays put out something after 20 minutes!
we don't have the receipt & can't return it. may try with a new cube and turn it on sooner. we suspect the fact that it is soy based is the culprit & are planning to avoid soy based melts in the future.
got low on hand soap & can never find a non-foaming one we like. we had sauve milk & honey hand soap this last time & we thought it was pretty ok. but of course we can't fine it now. so we got raw sugar hand wash* for sensitive skin green tea + cucumber + aloe vera, which smelled half-way decent when se sniffed it in the store, but not so good when using it on the hands. and the scent lingers, which would be good if we liked it. which we don't.
instead of waiting until we're almost of of this stuff we went to look for another hand soap we can live with and got the target brand milk and honey. i think we had it before & thought it was ok. but they're always changing things.
*not a soap, apparently. as soap is a surfactant, chemical compound that decrease the surface tension or interfacial tension between two liquids, a liquid and a gas, or a liquid and a solid, basically separating dirt from something else. in this case your hands.
