counting down to midnight (with ETA)

Sep 30, 2021 21:48

found out that the issue with youtube TV (google) vs. NBC/universal is that NBC/u wanted their streaming service peacock to be bundled with youtube TV (probably for an extra cost). because peacock is not getting a lot of subscribers*.

that's such BS. it's like ordering a salad & the restaurant insisting you get a burger too. you don't want a burger, maybe you don't even eat meat, but because burgers are not selling they're forcing people to get them.

ETA: from here.Following a public standoff earlier this week, YouTube TV and NBCUniversal have agreed to a “short” extension over the streaming service carrying several of the broadcaster’s channels. That means that at least for now, YouTube TV will continue to carry more than a dozen major NBCUniversal-owned channels, including NBC regional sports networks. But it also means YouTube TV’s monthly subscription cost won’t be getting $10 cheaper.
Had talks broken down, NBCUniversal programming would have been removed from YouTube TV at midnight ET. “NBCUniversal and YouTube TV have agreed to a short extension while parties continue talks,” an NBCUniversal spokesperson tells Protocol and Vulture. “NBCUniversal will not go dark on YouTube TV at midnight eastern tonight.”
not sure how short is "short" but i guess we will find out.

*not a surprise. i think we're getting to the point where there are too many of these things. many have original programing that's just not good or have crappy interfaces.
