of mice and supermen

it is often said of the superman adaptations that the actor is either a good clark kent or a good superman, not both.
the only exception seems to be christopher reeve. who not only was a good superman, but seemed to have the aw, shucks, slightly introverted, mild-mannered, kansas farm boy thing down pretty good.

in the '50s tv series george reeves was a better superman than he was a clark kent.

in the late '80s there was a superboy tv series in syndication & i don't recall either actor who played clark kent/superboy well enough to make a determination.

in the '90s series dean cain was a better superman than a clark kent.

smallville was all about clark kent becoming superman, so therefore tom welling was a better clark kent than a superman.

in superman return brandon routh was a better superman than a clark kent. but not that great at either.

henry cavill is such a wooden actor, that he's a bad clark kent and superman. but if you needed someone to be a statue of superman, he'd be good at that.

in the CW "arrowverse" tyler hoechlin is rather meh as both clark kent and superman.
and regarding these last 3, the only qualifications to be clark kent/superman on TV or in the movies seems to be; tall, have dark hair & a strong jawline.

i haven't seen much of the animated series to know if tim daily does much with his voice to distinguish between clark kent & superman. but it's not like bruce wayne & batman, where one is so different from the other in regards the image being put forth, that it's necessary to sound different if one can.
