exit, pursued by a bear
where we live now is in a fairly rural area, with some woods on two sides of the housing complex & more woods across the road.
yesterday afternoon (between 4-5) my brother heard a woman say something like: "you better get inside or the bear will get you." he didn't think much of it because this woman often yells at her little kids & he though this was her way of getting them inside the house. but then he heard someone else yell; "oh my god, bear!"
he looked out the window & sure enough, there was a bear. he ran to get me, i looked out the window to see this small-ish bear (maybe a year old) standing about 50-60 feet away near the kid's playground equipment. thankfully there were no children there at the time. it was the first time we've seen a bear in real life, despite living in rural areas all our lives.
my brother went to get the digital camera which wasn't that far away, but by that time the bear had wandered off into the side woods. he said; "now i know why people can't get a picture of bigfoot. by the time you get the camera, the damned thing has wandered off!"
so now we're worried about the possibility of bears being around the dumpsters. one of which is 10-15 feet from our house.
