twilight movie challenge

Nov 17, 2008 09:40

so im not sure if i've mentioned this but i am also in a twilight crafts group over at live journal. this month was a challenge month and the challenge was "what are you making to wear to the movie?" i (of course) am going to a midnight showing on thursday night. my mom, cousin, and friend are comming with me yay! i am team jacob (i dont wanna hear any lip from you edwardians. you all can root for him all you want but im jacob all the way) so my entry outfit was all jacob even though hes not in the first book that much. he does however play a major part in the storyline of the first book so i feel ok about it. :0)

ok heres my entry for the movie challenge! i made a wrist cuff which as you can see i cant put on myself, a skirt from this pattern
, i stanciled a shirt. it says "jacob black has imprinted on me!!!" and i uploaded my design so you can download that stencil here
as a word document. (dont be a jerk and sell it or something just use it for free and fun) i also made a purse with a howling wolf on the front and lined it in the same fabric as the skirt. oh also i picked red and black as the main colors because thats the color scheme for the cover art for the series. and if you dont know what series im talking about go here and get it right now its just awesome!

to make the wrist cuff i just sewed a bunch a fabrics and ribbons together and used fabric paint and gold glitter to put on the word howl. i then used grommets for the lacing so its adjustable.

the skirt was pretty straight forward. the pleatting came down a bit far on the skirt for me but i would still recoment this pattern for a beginning sewer. the only other problem was that the 45 inch wide fabric wasnt wide enough for the cutting layout they showed in the pattern. is fabric wider in europe? (burda is from germany or someplace). i would deffinatley make this pattern again with a few adjustments.

the shirt was a stencil project and i just cut the whole thing out and painted it all white. then i put on a layer of silver paint. when that was all dry i put the paw segments (with the letters cut out of them) back onto the shirt with the iron. then i applied red paint and glitter to the letters only. this is NOT a beginner stencil project. the letters were teeny tiny and it took a long time to cut out. my 2 color stencil technique needs some work hahaha. this was a first time for a 2 color stencil for me :0) overall i am happy with it. i also decided to put it on the front of the shirt cause the theater we will be going to is righ ton the beach and its gonna be freezing at midnight so ill be wearing a sweatshirt and i still wanted it visable.

the bag was a simple messenger bag (i make a ton of these) and i used cordoroy to basically make a patch for the front of the bag. that is to say the grey stuff is applied on top of the denim and satin stitched down. i drew the wolf myself too! normally i am a terrible drawer but this came out pretty good. the stap has some grey ribbon lace to make it a bit fancier :0)

anyhow i hope that you like my projects and the links i have included help you to make something team jacob too! HOOOOOOOOWWWL!!!!!
