[ Player Name ] : Ana

[ Age ] : 20, 21 in February
[ Timezone ] : Central Standard Time (CST)
[ Other Characters ] : None

[ Character's Name ] : Fran
[ Character's Age ] : Unknown; known to be over fifty, though
[ Series ] : Final Fantasy XII
[ Canon Point ] : Just after the crash of the Bahamut; she’ll believe herself to be dead, even though she most definitely survived the crash

[ History ] :
Here’s her history, ignore Revenant Wings stuff.

[ Personality ] :
Fran is a woman of mysteries and contradictory character traits. On one hand, she is a sky pirate. She is capable of kidnapping, thievery and even murder. However, she’ll also be the first to admit that they still have morals. A pirate is still a person, after all, and she and Balthier nearly died to save Rabanastre when the Sky Fortress Bahamut fell.

She is quiet, only speaking up when she has something to actually say-whether it be a quip, such as when she was teasing Balthier over how they may not make it out of the falling ship after all (she called him more of a supporting role as he had always insisted he happened to be the leading man) or to share her knowledge of events (such as relaying the stories she’d heard of fallen gods).

Fran is also a contradiction in the form of her past: she simultaneously regrets and stands by her decision to leave Golmore Jungle. She tells her younger sister that the life of a Viera who has left the wood is a solitary one, and that her past has been forever cut away. However, her actions speak volumes as to how she would make that same decision again if it came down to it.

She’s slow to anger, as well. She only shows anger in the game when she is driven mad by the Dawn Shard’s and Sun Cryst’s power and the presence of a lot of mist and magic, and annoyance in Eruyt Village when Vaan asks her how old she is. There is slight aggravation when she realizes she must return to Eruyt so that they may pass through the woods, but this quickly is gone and she instead seems to want to just leave so that there is no confrontation.

Above all of these traits, though, is her extreme loyalty to Balthier. She is constantly at his side, and places absolute trust in him. They are partners, for better or for worse, and she goes where he does. Sometimes they don’t even have to speak to understand each other-such as when they decided to steer the Bahamut away from Rabanastre. They simply told Vaan and Penelo to take care of the Strahl and were off.

There is an air of mystery around Fran, as well. She doesn’t often share her past, and even in the game little is learned about her history. It appears to be a sore spot, or perhaps she considers herself without one as she eventually says her past has been cut away.

[ Strengths/Weaknesses ] :
Fran is a distance fighter, so any close combat leaves her at a major disadvantage, even though she’s still somewhat capable. Her main skills lie in archery, and she is possibly one of the best when it comes to the field. She is also an ace pilot when it comes to airships, and very good at repairing them, as well.

As a Viera, she is also easy to find in a crowd. If not because of the fact that she is, essentially, a giant rabbit that walks on two legs, then because of her height: she is seven feet tall including her ears, around six-one without them. Her armor is also a disadvantage. While it is lightweight, it also doesn’t provide very good protection.

Fran is a wise woman, as well. She has seen many things in her life, and because of this, she often can know more than she’ll tell. She also has years of experience at life in general under her belt, and can thus be an excellent guide to those with stars in their eyes. Life, after all, rarely goes according to plan.

Above and beyond that, however, is her sensitivity to magic. Any high concentration of magic in one small space will cause her to go berserk. She will not be in control of herself. However, this magic sensitivity can also be useful at times-so long as said magic isn’t in high concentrations. It means she can feel various shifts in it, though sudden upheavals or large changes are likely to leave her feeling a bit disoriented or even ill.

[ Other Important Facts ] :
All Viera have heightened senses of hearing, sight and smell. Fran’s hearing, however, has dulled quite a bit. She also tends to refer to things in terms of “mist” and such.

[ Sample ] :
[The mists had changed. This much Fran is aware of right away, even as she sits up and looks around. The location matters not to her, it is the sense of magic in the air that tells her much. She is also wet, but that is of no concern whatsoever. What is concerning is that she is alone without Balthier in her sight. If they are dead, why are they not together?

She pushes herself to standing, stumbling a bit on her heels before regaining balance. Never before has she felt so drained and bordering on listless. Part of this she knows to be because the mists seem to have changed. If it can even be called mist anymore, that is. It has a different quality to it, much less dense to her senses.

She looks over herself, and notices a strange mark upon her thigh. It had not been there before, so then why is it there now? There are other things to worry about. Taking up the bow she’d had with her, she notices it. There, upon the ground… A strange starfish-like thing. She slings the bow over a shoulder and then cradles the device in her hands.]

…It would seem that the gods are not yet finished toying with me.

[ Questions? Comments? Concerns? ] :
Technically, Fran is sensitive to mist. However, as mist is the source of magic in Ivalice, it will be played as if she is sensitive to magic with or without mist.
