Spider-Man 2

Woah what a great movie. Unless you live under a rock, you've probably heard all the rave reviews on this film. If you're one to be skeptical of critics (like I am) don't be this time. They're 100% right. If you liked the first one, or action/super hero movies in general, you should go see it. Totally took my breath away. Don't read any further ye risk spoilers.

SPOILERS I SAY!

I thought the pacing was excellent. There are several storylines within one big storyline and it could have ended up really messy. The only thing I wanted to see more of was the conflict between Peter and Harry over Spider-Man. Especially when Harry took off his mask. I mean, it only takes two seconds to say hey, your dad was a maniac, it was self-defense and defense of the city, why else would I do it? The humor was excellent. There was one scene that confused me as to why it was added, but I think it might be explained in the third movie. I cared not at all about Mary Jane. Girls in super hero movies are never given enough credit and just once I'd like to see a super hero who's not in love with some girl who can't take care of herself. That's what makes Batman so great- he never settled.

Speaking of Batman, the Catwoman movie, which as a concept I'm very excited about, looks horrible. Halle Berry may be an Oscar winner/Bond girl, but she should stick to Storm. Cameron Diaz would have been a better choice, I think.

Anothing movie I saw this week was Saved, with Mandy Moore and our old Culkin buddy. Excellent film as well, but of course in a different way. The only bad thing about this movie is that it will reach only those already converted to open-mindedness, and won't reach those who it preaches to. But I have a lot more respect for Moore after this movie, simply for holding back her laughter. Seriously, 90% of her lines are hilarious.
