A/N: Thank you to crys_tenkari for the plotbunny, and letting me yoink it. =) I adore Kurogane as a character, and I see him and Tomoyo-hime in a sort of brother-sister relationship, so that's how I tried to portray it here.

~*~

She had known him for a very long time, and yet he had always been distant from her. They had met just after the massacre at Suwa, Tomoyo and Kurogane. It hadn't been ideal circumstances, of course. Tomoyo had been surprised when Kurogane decided to stay and serve her. She'd half expected him to leave right away, to search for the man with the bat on his sword. But she supposed even in his soul-shocked state, Kurogane recognized the need to become stronger before he sought vengeance.

But he'd been broken. She could see that, though he would never say. The massacre, the loss of his parents, being forced into manhood so quickly had killed little, vital bits of Kurogane's soul. He was cordial enough in Tomoyo's presence, if a bit rude, but in battle, and in private, he was vicious, like an animal. Tomoyo could hear him on the roof at night, pacing, swearing. She knew Soma was worried about him.

Tomoyo knew that he would never heal on his own. She'd always been good at reading people's hearts, both because of her powers and because she was just that good at observation.

Kurogane was stubborn, and willful, and the wounds on his heart were still fresh. There was so much anger in him, as though anger was the only emotion he could bare to let himself feel. He was wild, untamed, unwell. And in his own way, he was innocent. He killed, he didn't interact. He'd never had to deal with people before, unless it was sword-to-sword.

He needed to heal, and Tomoyo knew he could never do it in Nihon.

But she wasn't worried.

Soon after she had taken Kurogane into her service, Tomoyo had a dream.

She dreamed of a man with pale gold hair and broken blue eyes, and knew that Kurogane would be alright.

She knew Kurogane, probably better than Kurogane expected. He and the blond would fix each other, and they would be alright.

So Tomoyo smiled, as she laid the curse that would not be a curse at all.

Kurogane swore and screamed at her, and she just smiled. Sending him to the Time-Space Witch would be good for him. It was better that it be this way. It would set him on the path he needed to walk. He might hate her for this, forever, but she was willing to take that risk. She had a suspicion that he would not be returning to her service under any circumstances anyway.

So she smiled, as Kurogane vanished into another realm, and folded her hands in prayer.

"Make him tame, so he can live at peace in whatever world he chooses," she murmured.

And then she saw, in a flash of a dream, Kurogane.

His eyes were different, still driven, but peaceful and warm and more mature. The blond stood beside him, no longer blue eyed and no longer so broken, Kurogane's arm comfortably around his waist. There was a pretty young girl sitting nearby, with a white Magical Mascot of some kind on her lap. They were watching a brown-haired boy go through a sword kata, and Tomoyo could see the warm pride in Kurogane's eyes.

She smiled as the scrap of vision faded.

Everything would be alright.
