So, I was down at NL shopping, and ran across the most amusing little handout, sitting in a basket.
Cell Phone Radiation
travels 100 yeards or more, and Is more haremful than cigarette smoke.
PLEASE TURN OFF YOUR CELL PHONE NOW as it is causing me physical pain*.
Thank you!
*Symptoms can include headache, breathing difficulties, dizziness, and heart palpitations.
.......
The back of it goes on to describe in more detail, the horrible pains that, apparently, 3% of the population endure thanks to cell phone radiation, as well as how migratory birds are killed thanks to the radiation from cell towers.
Riiiiiight. So, no proof, just a phone number to call for more info (aka, brainwashing).
Extremists are funny. They think, somehow, that metaphoricly yelling louder will somehow get them what they want. No large scale peaceful confrontation was won that way. All it does is provide proof that a) you are an asshole, willing to be a bigger asshole than the guys on the other side and b) expend a lot of energy to little effect. The majority of people are fairly moderate, in one way or another. Everybody has their specific sticking points, sure, but the majority of anyone I know's views basicly coincide with everybody else. This isn't just friends or people I like. This is people I work with, who's opinions I see expressed in print and audio transmitions, basicly everyone who's opinions I hear. Yeah, some of them yell about things they care about. But most of them just go about their day. And if you try to yell at someone who's opinion is moderate, my experience is that they'll just ignore you, no matter the content.
The only peaceful conflict that I know of that be said to have been 'won', was the British occupation of India, which was won in the hearts and minds of history, by Mahatma Gandhi. His actions speek loudly, but not because they are adversarial to his opposition. Specificly because he refused to rise to the continued agression of his opposition. This is the lesson, this is the key. Peace can only be won through peace.
