Slaughterhouse Five
I finally got around to reading it, after about 10 years on my reading list. I think it's probably my favorite book. There are writers who write better, there are writers who worked harder, but something about the way Vonnegut wrote that book just clicked in my head. It was the first time in a long time that after reading something it felt like I turned a corner in my mind and went up a new street.
That said, I'm glad I waited this long to read it. I would not have appreciated it before this point in my life, at least not as much.
