This was a comment on someone else's (locked) entry that I thought stood well enough on its own to be posted here, as well. So, without further ado:

As a man who favors the local team is freer in a room full of men who favor the local team than a man who favors the visitor, christians in the US are bound to feel some loss of freedom as it is gradually pointed out that the country is not quite so stocked with fellow christians as they had imagined.

But on the first hand again, the only "freedom" lost is the ability to speak and act as though all the world shared our views without fear of someone reminding us they don't agree. We would have done better to mind our actions to begin with than to complain now that we can no longer engage in that same intellectual laziness as though its loss were supposed to mean something.
