throwing confetti

Yeah and yippee!  My third reader was happy with my thesis - gave me a wonderful review and caught a few typos. ;-)  She doesn't want to see it again - I'm done. (Alana - you were right!) Now I'm in the very process of printing out two copies to submit to the masters program office.  I'm presenting the research in Arizona in August but they were good enough to confer my degree on June 19! (Mostly because of  issues over presentation time in May, plus time constraints on the third reader)  I did present our research already - at that board meeting that scared the bejeezus out of me. Anything after that will be fun.  Or at least approach fun.  I'm going to get good and drunk in Prescott but I don't know with whom...who's going to be there?! And I'm going to take a year to think about the PhD.  I need to let some things settle first.  I need to see what my student loan paybacks look like too.

We're still at the monitor site from hell.  I've taken myself off that schedule mostly.  We have our most promising student home for the summer who needs work; in fact everyone needs the work.  I'm teaching a six-week night class, so I have that as a source of income.  I do some office and lab work too.  We've got other jobs coming up.  I'll have plenty of work for the rest of the summer, I think.  The field tech work is the only work for everyone else so...I do go out occasionally as a floater or if something comes up.  I'm still snapping photos out there -  mostly of life valiantly trying to continue in the face of bulldozers and scrapers.  I didn't know that creosote crown-sprouted after having the life crushed out of it.  That's cool.  Unfortunately all/almost all of these houses will install lawns which will pretty much drive out all native vegetation.  Those who do the gravel yard thing may get native things popping up. Sigh.
